Before joining Huntlee Academy, Derrick worked at a local high school in the role of Aboriginal Support Officer and as a mental health carer. These days, you will find him driving a ride on mower or weilding a line trimmer around the Huntlee parks and green spaces and alongside the surrounding roads.
Derrick was introduced to the Academy from his job provider Mai-Wel Labour Force Solutions in late 2020 and is relishing all the training offered to him.
“The opportunities at Huntlee Academy are really good. You develop skills to move toward a full time career. One day I would like to be a greenkeeper in the sporting sector”, Derrick said.
